You may have noticed that I've been gone for 6 whole months now + that I haven't even popped in for a quick hello or mention of a simple recipe. But alas! I have returned + I have BIG news to share!
Santa is coming early this year...with a little sister for Chloe! :) I'm pregnant!
These photos are from when I was 18 weeks pregnant.
Gluten Free recipes, though they are an obvious staple in my every day life, fall short in excitement in comparison. I'm sure you all agree. ;)
As to how I've been doing? I'm delighted to report that I've been feeling great + that I even got through my first trimester without one-single-episode of morning sickness. Can I get a hallelujah? And hell-to-the-yes I'm embracing that fact loudly + proudly, knowing how rare such instances can be. At first, I worried that not being sick meant something was wrong, because who in the world gets pregnant but doesn't get sick? Apparently...this girl. But my doctor assured me it was all good + fine. She said to just go with it + enjoy it, so that's exactly what I've been doing.
Sure, I felt nauseous. And yes, the saddest part was I didn't enjoy baking OR cooking throughout my entire first trimester + 6 weeks into my second trimester. And you all know how much I LOVE to do that. It's my biggest vice! So I was bummed. But that passed + my love for cooking and baking has returned...and now, so has my blogging.
I'm now 32 weeks into my pregnancy + my second and third trimesters have been just as uneventful. I feel very much like myself, which is odd to type, let alone think, when I look like I'm hoarding a large basketball under my shirt. ;) I'm definitely more tired + moving at a slower pace, but all of that is to be expected. The worst thing I've come across in this pregnancy is carpal tunnel (which has zero effect on the baby and will go away after I deliver) + high blood pressure. The high blood pressure just showed up 3 weeks ago + so now I'm on a little bit closer watch. From what the doctor has informed us, that is also common.
As for Chloe, she's very excited about the baby + we'll catch her often sneaking over to my belly, reaching out her little hand to touch it, and saying "baby". It makes Stanton + I melt every time! And though I know it's highly likely that she doesn't quite understand the full concept behind what all this baby stuff means (or as I've been jokingly saying to her that she'll have to "be ready to share her throne" lol), we are certain that she will make for a fabulous big sister + that in the long haul, a sibling is exactly what she needs. :)
As for Stanton -- he enjoys telling everyone that passes by him just how excited he is. The day I told him I was pregnant + had him unwrap this little onesie, he ran across the street to get gas in his car and told the entire gas station that he was going to be a Daddy again.
He keeps a copy of the baby's first ultrasounds in his office + he likes handing me folded up "I love you" notes on the fly that include his own illustrated pictures of my baby bump and the name of our baby to be. So yes...she does have a name. :)
Emma Joy Hartsfield
Emma means "complete" and Joy is my grandmother's maiden name (on my mom's side). So in other words, her name will mean "complete joy". We felt it was very fitting + our hearts have already expanded in preparation for her big arrival. We can't wait for her to get here!
...and then there were FOUR. :)
I'm about to get back into the swing of things when it comes to blogging, so be ready for some new recipes in the near future. I've got all sorts archived on my computer, ready to go.
In the meantime, head over to my Instagram (@house054) to see the most recent updates + recipes I'm cooking up!
I hope you're all doing well + until next time...
Happy GF Cooking + Eating!
